Biography

Luis Cabrera has resided in Elgin since 1958. Luis started teaching in District U-46's Bilingual Program in 1973 and taught at Larsen Junior High before becoming the Dean of Students at Larsen. From 1980-1985, he was Assistant Principal at Kimball Junior High. In 1985, Luis was appointed Principal of Huff Elementary, where he served until his retirement from U-46 in June 2005. Luis currently serves the Elgin community as a member of the following Boards: Club Guadalupano Scholarship Committee (Chairman), Centro de Informacion (Treasurer), Latino Treatment Center (Secretary), Elgin Sports Hall of Fame, Hamilton Wings, and the United Way of Elgin's Youth Impact Council. Luis is married to Judith Harlan Cabrera and has four grown children.
