Mark
Sharf is the president of the Elgin Sports Hall
of Fame Foundation. He graduated from
Larkin High in 1968 and has an extensive sports background, which includes being the
athletic trainer for the football, basketball, and baseball teams while
attending Southern Illinois University.
Since that time, Mark has served as an athletic trainer in the St. Louis
Cardinals minor league system, followed by five years as trainer at Streamwood
High, four years at St. Edward High, and as an assistant girls' basketball
coach at Elgin High School for 10 years, including 1996 when the team finished
2nd in the state. For 29
years, Mark has been a recommending scout for the Cincinnati Reds, Los Angeles
Dodgers, and Philadelphia Phillies. His wife, Liz, is an elementary school
teacher, and he has a daughter, Katie.
