Amy Young has been a life-long resident of Elgin. She attended U-46 schools and graduated from Larkin in 1989. She attended Southeast Missouri State University and competed on the 1991 Division II National Championship Gymnastics Team. Amy graduated with a B.S. in Education in 1994. Since 1996, she has been teaching first or sixth grade at Harriet Gifford Elementary School in U-46. In 2001, she received her Masters in Administration from Aurora University. Amy was inducted into the Elgin Sports Hall of Fame in 2004 for her gymnastics accomplishments. Amy and her husband, Mike, have two children: Madeline and Eric. They have been married for 11 years.
